The battlesphere is where combat takes place, and consists of a two dimensional map of fixed width and height. So its not really a sphere! The map is made of terrain hexes.

There are four types of terrain within the sphere:

Chaos sea is impenetrable, no titan can move over it and it is therefore a very important strategic feature. Try not to let yourself get trapped between mountains and the sea as the opposition can pummel you while you slowly crawl away.
Lowland, beautifully flat and featureless. It costs only a single move point to cross.

Highland, with rolling hills and valleys.

  • It costs double the move points to move through a hill hex.
  • They offer defensive bonus which reduces the chance of a hit upon the Titan by 5%.
  • They offer the major benefit of +1 to range when firing upon lowland.
  • Lets you see over other hills and into the first valley to the next ridgeline. Beyond this ridgeline you will only see other hill tops.

Mountains, rugged and broken towers of rock and sharp cliffs make travel very slow.

  • It costs three times as much to move through a mountain hex.
  • They offer defensive bonus which reduces the chance of a hit upon the Titan by 5%.
  • There is then the huge benefit of a +2 to the range of weapons when firing on lowland, or +1 when firing on highland.
  • Lets you see over other mountains and hills and into the first valley to the next ridgeline. Beyond this ridgeline you will only see other mountain tops.

TransGate

  • Very special, moving into this hex will cause all subsequent movement to be multiplied by the gates acceleration factor.
  • Using a gate will destroy all a titans shields, weapons and spawning chamber - so use with care.
  • If your titan moves through a TransGate hex it will use the gate, this is not optional.

Each hex may have bio-mass growing upon it. This is the unnatural growth that spreads swiftly upon the battlesphere, which is what your Titans harvest and use to reproduce. Bio-mass will grow out from a central point, so grabbing bio-mass fields and harvesting them dry is very important. A hex can hold at most 7 units of bio-mass, and a Titan can harvest 1 unit per go.

When a titan dies they will decompose and contribute a quarter of their mass back into the hex.

The more advanced Titans will not be able to harvest the basic bio-mass shown above. When this happens (you will know!) you must start to move your clan to the South or East, for this is where the next realm of bio-mass grows.

The border for different bio-mass consumption are:

Tech 0-15= green bio-mass
Tech 16= orange bio-mass
Tech 51= Purple bio-mass
Tech 151= Blue bio-mass
