Sliding

The slide order under the player menu option allows you to temporarily leave the game for up to 30 turns. You specify how many turns you wish to be absent, and then send your orders as normal.

2 turn countdown

There is a two day countdown before the slide order takes effect. During these two days you can cancel the slide, or change the duration. You cannot delay the slide by a day though, you can only cancel it or change the duration.

Example, for the fast game:

Friday Set slide countdown for a 2 turn slide. You can enter orders for Friday and your turn will be processed as normal.
Saturday Get your turn report and enter orders as normal
Sunday Get your turn report and enter orders as normal. However, no turn report will be generated, so you will never know how your actions turned out!.
Monday You are on the slide and your forces are absent from the map.
Tuesday You are on the slide and your forces are absent from the map.
Monday you will get a turn report, your titans will be invulnerable for this turn so if they materialise in a hex under fire they will not be hit. You can now continue to play as normal.

During the slide period your Titans will not appear on the map and will not take part in any activity. You will not be sent any emails from the game server either and your credits will not be debited. When the slide duration is completed your Titans will return to the map in approximately the same location and you can continue to play as normal.

Canceling a slide during the countdown

During the countdown turns you can cancel the slide, or change the duration of the slide. Simply use the slide dialog.

The slide resurrection effect

If the slide duration is 7 or more turns then your Titans will return to the map in full health, except for clan halls and units with only a single computer left.

Slides to protect your clan scores

If you slide for 5 turns or more during a tourney (see scoring) your clan will have its size protected. This means that even if you score 0 points your clan maximum size will not shrink. If you still manage to score many points then your clan will grow as normal. If your slide starts in one tourney and ends in another then the effect is worked out for both - i.e. the first tourney had 6 turns of slide and the size was preserved, but the second only had 3 turns and the size was not preserved.

Why Slides?

This facility exists to allow for holidays and real life requirements. As immortalised by the Gimli incident, sliding for tactical reasons is a hateful and cowardly thing to do and will earn you much disdain. However, the two turn countdown means that a clan can no longer slide immediately to save their hall, and cannot slide consecutively. So while you will get disdain, God will not interfere.
